We used Two Men and a Truck for our recent move across the neighborhood to the new home we had been remodeling. The house we were moving from we had lived in for 24 years, so we had a lot of stuff! Our moving team, Leroy Gardner, Quinton McRae and Holden Long showed up on time and were very friendly and positive to work with. They took great care with all of our furniture and valuables and really cared about their work. The move took a full 8 hours, but these gentlemen were just as positive and helpful at 5pm as they were at 8am. As with any company....it is the people who make all the difference. I would like to congratulate Two Men and a Truck for having a professional and courteous crew who really care about the customer. Thanks guys!
Just let me start by saying that "ALL" Two Men and a Truck locations are created equal. I have used Two Men and a Truck ( Durham and Greensboro locations) several times for different moves and was generally satisfied with the results. This last moves was completed by the Patterson Street location. My items were placed in the storage facility stored at the Patterson Street warehouse as I had moved out of stated and didn't need to bring along my household items. I contacted the office to set up to have my belongings moved from their storage to a different location and spoke with a member of the office staff named, Tammy. She was able to get me set up with the date and time of when the movers would deliver my items to my new location. On the morning of the move, there was no truck. I contacted the office and was given a story that the movers were moving someone else and would be at my location between 12-12:30 PM. I explained that I was in town from Northern Virginia and was given a 10 AM meeting time. I was told that I was given a window of when the delivery would be made and not a definite time. I explained that I was told that the items would be packed the night before and delivered the following morning at 10 AM. I was then told to go do some errands! After the movers came with my stuff, they were very nice and apologetic about getting there late. While unloading my items, the movers notice some of my items were damaged and was very apologetic about that. They contacted their manager to inform them of the damage items. At the end of the move, I was informed that someone would be in touch with my regarding the damage and was informed that the company would replace the damaged item or would refund for the value of the item. That was on 8/18/17 and as of 9/8/17, I had not heard from anyone at Two Men and a Truck. On 9/9/17, I contacted Two Men and a Truck as they had debited my account for a service that I was no longer using and spoke with Tammy, again. I explained to her what happened and she stated that I would need to speak with John Coffer (may be spelling the name wrong). She took my contact information and said that she would make sure that he called me on Monday. Monday morning into noon, no call from John. I contacted Two men and Truck again and asked if the message was given to John and was told that it was. I told Tammy, again, that he hadn't called. I was told that he was now at lunch and she would have him to call me back. Tammy eventually called me back stating that the funds had been refunded back to my account. I asked about my damaged property and was asked about pictures. I explained that the movers had returned to the office with the damaged property but a damage report was filed. Tammy informed me that she would call me back after she located the paperwork. It is not 24 hours and I have not heard back from Tammy. I do have my copy if they need it!! I have left messages for John and he has yet to call me back. I feel that they are not trying to pay for the damaged items and if this is not the case, they could at least pick up the phone and call!! I will never use this particular location again!!
Eventually, they called in 3 more people to help them. My husband and I watched as 3 people would watch 2 other people move a dresser onto a truck. This happened all day. Standing around. No sense of urgency. There was no one in charge of this group of people. They continued to complain because we had a piano, because we had a safe--all of which was detailed up front when we spoke to the estimator. They honestly appeared as if they had never moved anything before.
This company has the absolute WORST customer service from start to finish. There may be good locations, but this one isn't it. My grandmother's piano was broken, a hole punched in a wall, and overall the movers were just unprofessional and seemingly inexperienced. And the company doesn't care, either. Avoid them!!!
We called their supervisor early on in the day when all of this started, sent pictures of the guys just standing around, and told him we were not paying by the hour for them to stand around and move like it hurt them. He apologized. We continued to call him as the day wore on and got worse.
I used Two Men and a Truck last week (09/2017). I am very happy with the move. I did not hire them to pack all my belongings, I only hired them to move all the furniture and already packed boxes. The move was done in one day (just like they estimated) and all my furniture and other items made it to the new house without a single scratch or ding. The crew handled everything with the utmost care, didn't leave a single scratch on walls or other surfaces. I can only recommend them and I will use them again if I ever decide to move again.
Fast forward to yesterday, November 22, and we get a COLLECTION NOTICE in the mail for $2200. The GM never called us, we were NEVER once invoiced for the amount owed, and yet, they have turned an amount over to collections. My husband spoke with the GM this morning and he was not apologetic and was actually kind of a jerk about it.
You can see in the pics I attached the "standing around" that occurred that day...standing around watching others bring a dresser down the stairs, standing around watching them load it on the truck. This happened all day and is why it took them from 9am-11:45pm to move packed contents of our home--and they didn't even move the whole house.
Guys were AWESOME! I overstressed the irreplaceable value of the antiques they were moving - they tolerated my repetition of caution very nicely!! And were in fact very careful and cautious in wrapping items and securing them for travel. Mostly just impressed with their manners and intelligence and conversation.
This experience deserves no stars, from start to finish. Two Men and a Truck (Patterson St, Greensboro) provided an estimate to move our home (no packing) for $1050-$1200. Two men arrived on time at 9am on June 9, the day of our move. Their first response was "Oh my gosh, this is a lot of stuff. You've got so much stuff." They proceeded to complain and stand around for about an hour, wandering room to room, "assessing." When they finally got going, they moved at a snail's pace.
We waited for the general manager to call and he never did. FInally, we get a call on August 4, asking why we haven't paid. My husband then goes into the whole saga again, saying that they were supposed to be in touch with us and that we were told not to pay until we heard from him. He says he will look into this further and get back to us. He never did.
They finally stopped moving items at 11:45pm. They had not moved everything, but we couldn't take any more of it. The supervisor had told us on the phone not to pay that night and that the general manager would be calling us to rectify the situation. The movers tried to charge us $2200 b/c of the 'hourly rate'--over double the low-end of our quote.
