All went well when they dropped off the pods and picked them up. We were moving from South Mills NC to Pilot Mountain NC. We received a phone call that there was damage to one of our pods and we needed to come back to Chesapeake va. to open the pod. So I had to take a day off from my new job and drive 5 1/2 hours back to Chesapeake to find that they had picked up the pod with a forklift and did not put the forks all the way under it. So when they started to lift the forks went up in to the pod destroying over $6,000.00 of my things. So when we arrived we was told we needed to unload the pod and put all our things in another one. No one ever offered to compensate us for our travel, hotel day off from work or our time to fix there mistake. But it get worse we were told that there was 10,000 dollars of insurance on the pods. Well we then figure ok at least we will get our money back. Boy were we the suckers next door. We filled out there claim form as honest as we could (don't do that with this company) and we sent it in. When we got the answer back we were told that we would only be getting less than half do to deprecation. So since we still haven't moved the pods of course we still had to pay them once they did arrive. So once we paid them we ended up with about $500.00 and no living room set or dining room set pls many other things. But I'm sure we can replace all that was destroyed for that amount. So for a move that should have cost a little over $3,000.00 Will now cost us around $10,000.00.
It was great until two days after you picked up the pod. My credit card was charged again. I contacted pods and got no response...ever.
Could not have made the move withe the POD. Very easy and simple to relocate from Connecticut to North Carolina. Very professional staff. The one thing that I like most was that the POD was available for me 24/7.
So if you have a claim make sure up double your cost and you just bought if yesterday. But I'm sure they will figure something else out. Also the delivery went well also.
Scheduling pickup and delivery is not nearly as convenient as the company would have you believe. I wanted the pod picked up the day after it was delivered to my new address, but the company refused and told me I would have to wait almost a week for removal of the empty container. Later on I wanted to reschedule the delivery date (after being assured on the phone that this would be no problem) and found that the only way to do that would be to wait almost two extra months for delivery. This was unacceptable (especially since that would have cost me two more months of storage fees) so we just had to deal with it. Due to the steepness of my driveway, the container had to be placed on the side of the road. Someone complained, and the result was me being given 72 hours to remove the pod before it would be towed. I contacted the company about expediting removal, and they basically told me they were too busy to pick it up early and that I was just out of luck. Thankfully I was able to buy myself some extra time by explaining the situation to the local authorities but I would have expected a little more from pods than simply allowing their unit to be towed, which I’m sure they would have held me liable for. Overall this entire thing was a headache from beginning to end, which bodes poorly for a company whose primary selling point is making moving more convenient.
