I have had three dogs that were patients here. The care for each of the situations (cancer, ultrasound and a broken jaw) was second to none. Every person we interacted with was wonderful. Our current situation, broken lower jaw, was beyond their scope of work so they have painlessly arranged for us to be seen at NC State. I appreciated that they got our approval on the cost before they did any work. Our family is so grateful for this team.

I'm so sorry for all the people with terrible experiences here. Fortunately, I've never had a bad experience. I've had to take my two (problem children) cocker spaniels here several times (somewhere around 6 times) for one after hours problem/emergency or another. I've always received fast service upon arrival. Every time I've been able to walk out with my dog(s) better than they came in. There were three situations that they could have easily pulled my strings and did more than necessary to get more money out of me, but they didn't. You will definitely pay more for their services, but I don't think they're money hungry. They're a veterinary with skilled specialists and technology. While it is so unfortunate that animals may not be seen because of non-payment, this is a business that would shut down if they provided services to everyone who could not pay. From personal experience, I do know that they send out flowers from the doctors and staff associated with the passing of many of the animals that have been patients there, something they don't have to do. Again, I'm a bleeding heart for animals (moreso than I'd ever be for people), so every one-star review is very sad, but from my personal (several) experiences, I've been very pleased.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!! I took my dog here Christmas eve and was told they could not find his heart beat and was in critical condition. Something did NOT feel right at all. They took him and would not let me go with him to be checked out. My daughter read reviews while I was falling apart. I decided something was not right. I got my dog BEFORE they did anything. I took him to "After hours" on friendly 10 minutes later where they said he had a slightly increased heart beat while they checked him in front of me. She gave him meds and he is PERFECTLY fine. TRUST ME if you love your pet stay away from this place.

Okay I will give you a very honest run down about this place. Yes it is expensive, yes they make you pay before you get your pet. But what people don’t understand is this is no different from a human walking into a hospital! Half of the people at the hospital don’t get a real diagnosis, imagine an animal who can’t even speak to tell you what’s wrong. We had our dogs jaw removed here with Dr. Hoac, but she let me know UPFRONT how much everything was. Gave me an estimate of 3-4K ended up being 3.5. I mean they were completely honest the whole time. Jill has answered all of my silly phone calls at night asking all kinds of questions. She’s loves her job and knows how to talk to people. Give her a raise. This place is probably not the place to go if you don’t really have the funds, because they will tell you no. Which I don’t agree with, but everything is a business these days. I don’t agree with them turning down people who don’t have money to save the animals (that is wrong and against why they went to school) but that’s not what I’m here to argue. Each appointment you have TWO doctors who are working together. TWO! Every appointment. How impressive. My regular Vet misdiagnosed my dog with terminal cancer, until I came here. But at the end of the day I understand because mistakes happen and the medical field really is a huge guessing game!

We had an emergency with our german shepherd. When we got there, they came out and got him pretty quickly. 20 minutes later they came to get us and told us that he was in critical condition and that they were not able to check him out completely. The vet told us that he needed surgery and that it was going to be 5 to 7 thousand dollars, otherwise he would have to be put down. We told them that we wanted a 2nd opinion, and it took over 45 minutes to get our dog to us. We took him to another vet and I am glad to say, no surgery. He will need stitches after some healing, but he has done wonderfully. He is still recuperating and is going to make it.
