Shady business practices will always come to light. Beware of reviews where people have only left one glowing review for only this one company too. I've gotten several emails over the past year from others who have been burned by this company. Like I said, Beware of KC's....
HOMEOWNERS BEWARE! I hired KC Improvements for structural repairs under my home in May 2015. Once the job was completed to their satisfaction, payment was requested immediately. This was before a walk through had been completed or issues that I had with several spots on my floor were ever addressed.
I used KC's for a few handyman type projects (large and small) and they did a great job. Everyone I worked with was courteous, professional and knowledgable. I'm looking forward to future projects soon. Thanks!
Now they are responding to other reviews online a year later, stating I complain all the time to BBB wanting my money back. I have ZERO complaints to any company wanting my money back. Such lies, such lies!!! Even in this case, it was not wanting money back, it was not wanting to pay them for services not rendered..
I emailed the owner Keith about several concerns that I had with the job. Foremost being that the estimate included $600 worth of fees for an electrician and an HVAC subcontractor. Neither of which were necessary for the completion of my job. When I questioned Keith and the foreman Larry about this, I was told that the plumber took longer than they planned. When I questioned them about all the extra supplies that were not used, I was told by Larry that “it all washes out in the end”. When I questioned them about the downspout leader that my landscaper installed during a separate job and why this wasn’t removed from my estimate, there was no response.
KC's has done two projects at our house and everyone involved from beginning to end was helpful, knowledgeable, efficient, skilled, and friendly. Our location is out of the way and they did not hesitate to offer their services at a great price. Dealing with KC's Construction has been one of the times when you get more than you pay for. We wouldn't have anyone else doing work on our home.
We had KCs redo our kitchen. I was worried about the process because everyone says going through a renovation can be stressful. The lady that came out to do the estimate really listened to what I wanted, my budget and even gave me options on ways to save money in certain areas so I could splurge on counter tops. When the demo started I was worried about the mess that years of cooking and dust would stir up, but I came home to the area completely covered, protecting the rest of the house. The total project ran one week over my anticipated schedule but the pay-off was well worth it. My small kitchen, once upon a time an eyesore is now the hub of my home. Everyone just loves the extra storage and fresh look my kitchen now has. I was so impressed that I am working with them again to do my bathroom. :)
UPDATE 1/5/2017.... even more evidence of this shady company. They have denied knowing me at Houzz and BBB. After supplying both companies with documentation of my contract and e-mails back and forth to owner about poor service, they were yet again caught in their own lies.
I received another invoice with an email stating that should I want an itemization of what they did, it would cost me $115.00 an hour with a 4 hour minimum fee. If they had nothing to hide and could honestly stand by their work, why would they demand $460 to prove the integrity of their estimate? I have paid the full balance, but will never use KC Improvements for a job again. I warn others to do the same.
