I scheduled an appointment to get my natural hair twisted and styled. I do not have dreads and do not want dreads. I just wanted my natural hair in a low maintenance style. Just the night before my appointment, I had taken down my box braids and of course my hair was in need of a deep conditioning and detangling. Just to give heads up to those who are not going there for dreads (which they do a great job on)...do not go and experience what I experienced. After my hair was washed and conditioned, the stylist started combing my hair with a small tooth comb...which is a No No...that breaks the hair off and causes hair damage. And plus she did not put leave in conditioner in my hair...which is vital to detangle natural hair. Not only just that but she attempted to twist my hair with NOTHING...no leave in conditioner or cream....Nothing (I did not ask for dreads). The owner said that conditioner will cause build up....No.. the type of conditioner you use can cause buildup. That is when I stopped her from continuing on my hair. Conditioner conditions the hair and protects it from breakage, split ends, and damage. Conditioner is one of the main ingredients to style natural hair..it it enhances sheen and moisture. I csn go on and on. My point is they are not knowledgable in how to maintain and style natural curly hair...I'm not trying to throw salt but it is important for other curly naturals (excluding dread styles), that you do not want your hsir damaged at this place...it takes too much time, energy, emotions, and energy to have your natural hair destroyed by someone who does not have knowledge how to care for that particular kind of natural hair. I literally feel like crying because my hair is extremely tangled (more than before I left) to the point where I may have to cut my hair (been growing my hair for almost 2 years). They should be honest and say they don't know how to do natural curly hair. But again, they do a great job on dreads.
