What a beautiful and serene older cemetery. The paths and roads are a little worn but that is only to be expected for the age. Otherwise it is an interesting place to walk around and immerse yourself in some of the local history.
Very joyful place!
Excellent place for a quiet walk as it is right along the Latham Park Greenway - aka trail that runs from the Cone hospital. As other reviewers have noted the paths and fences are a bit worn but for me that only adds to the charm.
Very historical. Excellent way to get to know Greensboro's architecture.
Great place to die after a long journey!
Opened in 1877 (for context that’s the year Rutherford B. Hayes succeeded Ulysses S. Grant as president), Green Hill Cemetery is a serene, garden-style, 51 acre cemetery. Hours are listed on the web page as from 8am to sunset but I’ve been here several times after dark and been able to walk around freely.
I love old cemeteries and this one is amazing! The headstones and sculptures are beautiful and elegantly weathered. It's a great place to go get lost in time. There are many notable North Carolinians buried here also, so it creates an excellent opportunity for learning about the state's history.
